The Tooth Fairy Conundrum

Phoebe has recently renounced her belief in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy.

As for the question of who then puts presents under trees, candy in baskets, and money under pillows, she has identified "Mommies and Daddies" as the prime suspects.

Inconveniently, she lost another of her front teeth yesterday.

With a visit from the tooth fairy on the line, we'll see how this crisis of faith plays out.

I have taught my kids that the Tooth Fairy is very real, but they persist in arguing with me, stating it is their father not an actual fairy. I continue to resist being labeled as a fairy, and point out there is no way I could fly through their window at night, and wouldn't look good in one of those skirts anyway. I finally had to explain that the Tooth Fairy only visits children who confess belief in her. They happily profess belief now, but they always have a funny smile on their face when they do so...

I have also recently let them know that a song to the Tooth Fairy is needed at bedtime to ensure the said monetary exchange takes place. This has served a useful purpose in reminding a seemingly forgetful Tooth Fairy when teeth have been deposited under their pillows. It has also explained her absence several times when teeth were deposited with no money found in the morning.
